Second pruning weekend for the project “Let’s take action for the Bear”

23 Marzo 2018 | Non categorizzato

The second weekend of pruning in the Monte Genzana Alto Gizio Reserve for the “Let’s take action for the bear” project is over. This action aims at increasing food sources for the Marsican bear in natural areas far from urban centres. Despite the rain has affected the intervention, our volunteers have cropped 22 fruit trees, mainly apple trees, removing dry branches and antagonistic vegetation. 70 trees have been treated since the beginning of the project, so more days are needed to reach the total amount of 150. The contribution of EOCA has allowed the participants to spend a weekend full of nature and outdoor activities, in a convivial atmosphere, thanks to the hospitality of the Reserve and the “Bear Smart Community” of Pettorano sul Gizio.
