During the third weekend of pruning for the “Let’s take action for the Bear” project, sponsored by EOCA, our volunteers and the collaborators of the Monte Genzana Alto Gizio Regional Nature Reserve freed from dry branches and antagonistic vegetation 94 abandoned fruit trees in the mountain area of Pettorano sul Gizio. The number of fruit trees treated since the beginning of the project has risen to 164, over the 150 expected. This activity also allowed us to verify the state of flushing of the apple and cherry trees that we had previously pruned. We just have to hope for an abundant production of apples and cherries that can increase the food sources for the Marsican bear and other frugivorous species of the Reserve.
