Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th April we are going to prune in Pettorano sul Gizio, in the Monte Genzana Alto Gizio Nature Reserve, for our project “Let’s take action for the bear”, which aims at recovering abandoned orchards in order to increase food sources for the Marsican brown bear outside built-up areas. Thanks to a grant from EOCA – European Outdoor Conservation Association, board and lodging for volunteers will be free.

The event will be organized according to the following programme (weather permitting):
Saturday 13th April
8.45 am – Meeting by the restaurant “La Locanda”, via Muraglioni 6, Pettorano sul Gizio;
9.00 am – Walk to the pruning area (45′ walk along a comfortable path with a slight slope; please wear trekking boots);
9.45 am – Start pruning
1.00 pm – Packed lunch
2.00 pm – Pruning
4.30 pm – End of work
5.15 pm – Return to Pettorano sul Gizio
6.00 pm – Check in
7.45 pm – Dinner at a local restaurant.
Sunday 14th April
8.15 am – Meeting by the restaurant “La Locanda”, via Muraglioni 6, Pettorano sul Gizio;
8.30 am – Walk to the pruning area (45 minutes of walking along a comfortable path);
9.15 am – Start pruning
1.00 pm – Packed lunch at the “Le Tagliole” refuge
3.00 pm – Return to Pettorano sul Gizio.
