On February 12th, we were invited by The European Nature Trust to attend the gala “European travel and its role in wildlife conservation”, which took place at the Coal Drops Yard in London at Samsung’s, sponsor of the event. Together with Angela from Salviamo l’Orso, the representatives of other environmental conservation organizations in Europe, all supported by TENT, participated, such as the Fundación Oso Pardo and the CBD-Habitat Foundation from Spain, the Foundation Conservation Carpathia from Romania and the Alladale Wilderness Reserve from Scotland. The exceptional presenter for the gala evening was the English ecologist and documentarist Chris Morgan from UpRoar.
Short videos about the extraordinary biodiversity from each area were screened and were very appreciated by a large audience, about 150 attendees, made of journalists, bloggers, responsible tourism agents and passionate nature travellers. All the guests had time to tell their own works for the conservation of endangered species and ecosystems, by giving food for thought and by sharing experiences in a relaxed and proactive mood. The public asked many questions and demonstrated to be particularly curious and careful about the ecological consequences of a potentially-growing ecotourism in the represented areas. Moreover, it was a useful occasion to develop a new network of relationships.
A special thank goes to Paul Lister and all the TENT’s staff for organizing this successful event and their continuous support to our conservation actions.
