Thanks to the reports from Salviamo l’Orso, Stazione Ornitologica Abruzzese ONLUS, CAI Abruzzo, Dalla parte dell’Orso, Italia Nostra Abruzzo and LIPU Abruzzo, the Municipality of Rocca di Mezzo has finally suspended the construction works of a cross-country stadium in the Piani di Pezza, an area of high-natural value of the Parco Naturale Regionale Sirente Velino, recognizing that, by law, it is necessary to wait for the publication terms of the environmental impact assessment and to collect the observations from Institutions, Associations and citizens before concluding the procedure and eventually starting the work.
This confirms that NGOs act more and more as sentinels of legality while many entities think to be above the law, despite they should be the first concerned with enforcing them.
