News about Amarena’s cubs

15 Settembre 2023 | Non categorizzato

The two orphaned cubs of Amarena are being constantly monitored by the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park zoologists, park rangers and the Carabinieri Forestali officers.

Since the first week after their mother’s death, the PNALM has been sending out regular updates on the condition of the two cubs. For the moment, the news bodes well: the bears are growing, moving and feeding independently. They are busy, like all other individuals of their species, fattening to get through the winter.

According to scientific literature, only 50% of the cubs make it through the first winter despite the presence of their mother. For this reason, the fate of the cubs is not guaranteed, but we can certainly rejoice in knowing that the bears are viable and prepared to live a free life in the wild.

Salviamo l’Orso places its trust in science and experts and continue to work for a safe environment for the bears and a peaceful coexistence with people.
