A cub of Sebastiana the bear is still missing and the chances of it being alive are extremely low. Today’s release of the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise explains more. On the evenings of August 24th and 25th the bear family was chased by people on foot and by car into the town of Pescasseroli. Two of the three cubs were separated from their mother by a shouting crowd. Sebastiana was only reunited with one of those two cubs. This episode shows how human attitudes and emotions can be a serious threat to the conservation of animals that are critically endangered, with risk of extinction, such as the Marsican brown bear.
