Training course for monitoring and safeguarding wildlife

29 Ottobre 2019 | Non categorizzato

Last week we attended an interesting training course in the field, held by Jan-Kees Schakel from Sensing Clues, thank to the agreement between this Dutch foundation – which deals with technologies for monitoring and protecting the wildlife – and Rewilding Europe. The Central Apennines has been the first test bed to try the application “Cluey” and improve its operativity in real time. This was possible thanks to the commitment of Rewilding Apennines that played the leader role, together with other partners – Salviamo l’Orso, Ent dei Monti Ernici, Intramontes – so that this tool can be used effectively in daily monitoring work.
During intense days, of theoretical and practical training, it has been possible to practice with Cluey to record and map many information such as the signs of presence of bears and other species, direct observations, trophic sources of interest, ecological traps. All these data will be stored in a shared archive amongst the partners in order to use them in research and actions for the management of the territory.
