The barbed wire in the Central Apennine mountains never seems to end, but we intend to remove it as much as possible to restore the natural environment and make it more accessible, especially to wildlife. Last week the work of Salviamo l’Orso’s volunteers and the team of Rewilding Apennines in the Cocullo area was huge: 2,500 meters of fence per 4,500 m total of barbed wire removed! With this last intervention 15,000 m of mountain territory have been freed by 45,000 m of barbed wire, as each fence is made up of three lines on average.
