Launched by UN to remember the importance of the most precious resource on Earth, WorldWaterDay2023 is about accelerating change to solve the water and sanitation crisis.

In the last thirty years, 1991-2020, water availability in Italy decreased by 20%. This reduction is largely due to the impact of climate change.
Less rainfall, more evaporation in pools, more plant transpiration because of higher temperatures are themselves factors of this decrease (source Ispra).

With the Drop by Drop project, Salviamo l’Orso wants to preserve and improve the work on the ground the state of mountain’s water sources. Animals need pools to hydrate and lower their body temperature.

In absence of water, the Marsican brown bear limits its expansion to new areas, a vital step for the survival of this species. Keeping reservoirs alive is therefore one of the most important conservation actions.
