A great victory for our friends at Mountain Wilderness, LIPU, and Italia Nostra against another environmental disaster due to the expansion of a ski area, this time planned in Veneto on the border with South Tyrol.
A ruling that reaffirms the priority of safeguarding an area under state-imposed restrictions that the region and municipalities must not ignore. This contrasts with what was granted to the Abruzzo region and the municipality of Ovindoli in the case of new facilities in the Lenzuola Valley within the Regional Park of Sirente Velino… but here, nature will bring justice to the consumed disaster, as new installations will remain only as rusted pylons, as seen in dozens of former ski resorts in the Central Apennines.
It’s a shame to have wasted public money that could have been used elsewhere and more beneficially for mountain communities.
