Pizzone II: A CHORUS OF NO!

4 October 2024 | press releases

October 18 was the deadline for submitting comments on the Pizzone II project, the generation and pumping plant that threatens to devastate an area of great naturalistic value between Abruzzo and Molise, included in part of the Abruzzo Lazio and Molise National Park.

Some 50 comments and opinions were registered, with a unanimous chorus calling for a halt to the project: among the entities and associations that took a stand are the Molise Region, the National Park, the municipalities of Alfedena, Barrea, Castel San Vincenzo and Pizzone, as well as WWF Italy, LIPU, Salviamo l’Orso, CAI, and the No Pizzone II Coordination.

The National Park has already rejected the project without appeal, pointing out the very serious impacts on biodiversity and the international image of the area, and highlighting the danger of the planned works to local wildlife, including the Marsican bear.

Despite the widespread opposition, the struggle continues: we must remain vigilant and ready to make our voices heard to protect this corner of the Apennines, which is crucial for the survival of many species, and in particular for the Marsican bear, which is in danger of being compromised by a project that has no environmental justification.
