The early opening of wild boar hunting on October 1, decided by the Abruzzo Region, poses a real threat to the Marsican bear species. Females with cubs, which are still active and searching for food at this time, are particularly vulnerable to the disturbance caused by hunting.
Environmental groups have asked the region to review this decision and restrict hunting in protected areas, but so far there has been no response.
Our battle to protect the bear continues, and we will not stop denouncing these measures that threaten its survival.
